Here working at the County of Los Angeles, I get a lot of advice from older coworkers.  I am probably the youngest employee around here, and I here of many stories of what happens when you get older.  This ranges from life after marriage (oh no), body breaking down after 40 (oh NO), limiting food choices (OH NO), ways to get the most of retirement (oh yes?), and more. This normally discourages me from wanting to get older; I’m not looking forward to all those problems.  I hear a lot of:

When I was your age, I used to ________. Now I can’t anymore…

But the most common advice resulting from hearing this stories?

Vinh, enjoy life while you’re young and single.

Looking back on this past summer and all the things I did, I am enjoying life.  Sure work and school consumes 80% of my life, but I have a lot of fun with the 20% I have for myself.  I learned to appreciate having weekends to relax and taking bogus holidays off–i.e. Columbus Day.  According to my fellow colleagues, I’ll just pay for it later when I grow older.

Sh*t.

I recently found out from friends that alcohol is my truth serum.  Apparently, I’m really honest when I’ve had a few drinks… Really honest to the point of being mean.  I guess that’s better than being violent?

Now that that’s out of the way, I just renewed for another year for this domain and the web space, so I might as well make use of it.  Since I last updated:

• Thy and I broke up
• Got drunk at my birthday bowling thing
• Attended 3 Laker playoff games
• Lakers won the championship
• Huy graduated!
• Traveled to Europe (Spain, France, and Italy) for two weeks with Tracy and Audrey
• Got promoted to a full-time job with the County woohoo!
• Attended these concerts: Linkin Park, The Killers, No Doubt w/ Paramore, Bowling for Soup, Colbie Caillat, Beyonce, The Fray, Sugar Ray
• Got drunk again in San Diego celebrating a rare Padres win (be wary of San Diego “water”)
• 10pm - Sand on my feet leaving Huntington Beach, 3am- Same sand on my feet, but I was in Vegas (spent 6 hrs in Vegas, spent 9 hrs in the car driving to/from)
• Planned Vegas trip again for real the following weekend
• Attended 3 weeks of job training, one more week next week
• Traveled to New York with 11 other people, missed outgoing flight and spent one extra night in Queens
• Kita is still hyper, active, and playful
